Kayla Mohommadi

Artist Statement

Although I draw from the landscape and have painted directly from it in the past, I turn away from it when I am in my studio.

Through drawing and collage I work towards a simple expression of what I am seeing and feeling.  What keeps me engaged is color and flattened space.  I want the work to touch on the beauty I see in nature.  But when the painting is completed, I hope my work surprises the viewer.
